The University of Ottawa Real Estate Club (UOREC) hosted a site tour and industry mixer that brought together students, alumni, and industry professionals for an evening of networking, learning, and professional growth. Held in Ottawa, the event combined student-focused networking with exclusive site tours and concluded with a mixer featuring leaders from across the real estate sector.
The evening began with a student networking session. Over the course of forty minutes, attendees introduced themselves, shared career interests, and formed connections with peers who share a passion for real estate. This portion of the event emphasized the importance of peer-to-peer relationships, providing students with the opportunity to build meaningful connections within the club and university community.
Following the student networking, attendees participated in site tours of buildings operated by CLV Group and TCU Development Corporation. At CLV, Vice Presidents guided students through the property, answering questions and sharing insights about leadership, operations, and the company’s role in Ottawa’s real estate market. The experience continued at TCU, where students were toured by the execs and learned about the decision-making, design, and collaboration required to bring such projects to life. These tours highlighted the people and teamwork behind every successful development.
The event concluded with an industry mixer that featured professionals from TCU Development Corporation, GOHBA, CLV Group, Regional Group, Minto Group, Lépine Apartments, Campanale and other key players in the Ottawa real estate market. Students had the chance to engage directly with professionals, ask questions, and gain valuable career advice. Conversations ranged from industry challenges and emerging opportunities to personal career journeys, giving attendees a clearer picture of the real estate landscape.
Throughout the evening, a consistent theme emerged: real estate is driven by people. From the ambition of students connecting with peers, to the executives who shared their stories of perseverance and leadership, to the professionals who offered mentorship during the mixer, every stage of the event underscored the human side of the industry.
The UOREC site tour and mixer reinforced the club’s role as a bridge between students and the professional real estate community. By combining student networking, industry exposure, and mentorship, the event offered attendees not only a deeper understanding of the field but also the chance to develop the connections and confidence needed to thrive in it.
